The Japanese language has a buttload of foreign words that have different meanings from what they were originally, so who's to say we can't change the meaning of a Japanese word such as 'otaku' and use it? I say that if you identify as an otaku and are proud of it, don't let all these nay-sayers try and stop you. :>
